Top 5-Woman turned away from tanning due to weight

NORTON, Ohio, April 22 (UPI) -- An Ohio woman said she is trying to get a refund from a tanning salon after being told she was too heavy to use the business's equipment. Kelly McGrevey said she bought a tanning package at Aloha Tanning in Norton, Ohio and used a stand-up bed last week during an introductory tour of the business. However, she was turned away when she returned the next day, WKYC-TV, Cleveland, reported Monday.

McGrevey said she was told the stand-up bed was out of service. "He said, 'Sorry, but I'm not going to let you tan today because we've just implemented a new policy where anyone over 230 pounds can't go in one of our beds,'" McGrevey said. "I was just so shocked and embarrassed and humiliated." "It really upset me. It's discrimination," McGrevey said.McGrevey said the worker refused to refund her $70 payment for the monthlong tanning package."I said, 'OK, I'd like my money back then. He said, no, we don't give refunds. I said, 'You're not going to give me a refund, I paid for a service that I'm not getting, and he said no, you can't have a refund," McGrevey said. McGrevey has filed a police report against Justin Hileman, the owner of Aloha Tanning. She said workers refused to show documentation of the 230-pound weight limit policy. WKYC-TV said it spoke with a worker who said the business doesn't intend to refund McGrevey's money.

Top 4-How new app prevents incest in Iceland

A new cellphone app touts itself as a way for Iceland's singles to avoid sleeping with relatives — as the isolated country's small population of 320,000 means most people are related. The acquaintances just have to bump their phones together and it tells them instantly if they're family, News of Iceland reports. Three Icelandic engineers designed the app with the help of the Book of Icelanders that contains data from 720,000 people born in Iceland. News of Iceland says, "Everyone has heard of (or experienced) it when someone goes all in with someone and then later runs into that person at a family gathering some other time. This new app might just prevent such awkward moments." Its slogan: "Bump the app before you bump in bed." The app is available for Android phones and will be available for iPhone soon.

Top 3-Girl, 4, treated for iPad addiction

A GIRL aged four is having psychiatric treatment after becoming Britain's youngest known iPad addict. She is one of many child patients displaying compulsive behaviour after using the tablet device from an early age. Doctors say she is so addicted to games on her parents’ iPad that she experiences withdrawal symptoms when it is taken away. It comes days after a poll showed more than half of parents let their babies use a smartphone or tablet, with one in seven allowing it for four or more hours a day.
The girl, from the South East of England, has been hooked on the device from age three. Her psychiatrist Dr Richard Graham, from Capio Nightingale Clinic in London, said there must be many more addicts of the same age. He commended her parents for seeking help quickly, saying that by age 11, the problem might have become so severe that she would have required in-patient care. His clinic charges £16,000 a month for a ‘digital detox programme’ to wean patients off tablets and other devices. Some spend 36-hour stretches online and operate up to 20 Facebook profiles. Dr Graham said: ‘Don’t leave your iPad around because if you do, and children see all the pretty colours, they will want to use it too. They can’t cope and become addicted, reacting with tantrums and uncontrollable behaviour when they are taken away.’ Internet Addiction Disorder is set to be recognised by the NHS in a manual for GPs. Childcare author Tanith Carey said: ‘iPads, iPods and smartphones have become the new dummies for babies and toddlers.’

Top 2-TV news presenter swears just FIVE SECONDS into his debut broadcast

A North Dakota news anchor has been canned after the first words out of his mouth in his first broadcast on the station Sunday were "f---in' s---." "Unfortunately KFYRTV has decided to let me go. Thank you to them and everyone in ND for the opportunity and everyone for the support," A.J. Clemente tweeted Monday morning. The gaffe has been watched thousands of times on YouTube, with hundreds on Facebook page and Twitter calling for NBC affiliate KFYR-TV to reinstate Clemente. "AJ was nervous! Give him a chance!" Stacey Ward wrote on the station's Facebook page. The station claimed the anchor wasn't aware he was live and apologized. "We were caught off guard and we didn't realize his microphone was on, and while that is no excuse we do train our reporters to always assume any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately we can't take back what was said but we do apologize

Top 1-Hair cut from topless hairdressers

barber babes

TOPLESS hairdressers have set up shop in Brisbane's CBD, with customers travelling from as far as Townsville to get their locks lopped. Barber Babes operate out of The Grosvenor on George and involve a topless female barber cutting their hair wearing only hot pants or underwear. The scantily-clad barbers also offer scalp massages, brow waxing, blow dries and a shave with a cut-throat razor. Owner operator Jasmine Robson said all her stylists are fully qualified. "One of the gorgeous barbers was even apprentice of the year when she trained," she said. "Some of the barbers are available for lap dances but not whilst you are getting your Barber Babes service. They are serious about their art and don't take it lightly."
Ms Robson said most men generally don't enjoy getting their hair cut so the service aimed to make the experience more pleasurable. "We found that a lot of exotic dancers are qualified hairdressers and don't do what they love as the wages are quite abysmal," she said. Since Barber Babes opened in February, Ms Robson said the response has been excellent with some men coming in every couple of days for a shave. Clients include a lot of fly in fly out miners from Brisbane, local businessmen, musicians, barristers, women and university professors. "We have one client who flies in especially from Townsville to get his hair cut,'' Ms Robson said. "We've had a few strange looks and baffled inquiries but definitely no complaints." But Melinda Liszewski from Collective Shout, which campaigns against the objectification of women, said she wasn't surprised to hear the service is popular. "What we're seeing is the crossover of the sex industry into other more mainstream areas," she said. "It's reinforcing the idea that women exist for mens sexual arousal and titilation."
